In the south of Stockholm you will find the largest spherical building in the world. Officially the name is Avicii Arena (previous: Ericsson Globe) but you will usually hear the nickname Globen. The sphere is part of a complex with several event halls, a shopping center, a hotel,… It is also one of the places where you can see Stockholm from the air.
National hockey matches are held in Globen. Several teams have already played their home games here. Other indoor sports competitions are also played in Globen. It is also home to concerts of major international artists from The Rolling Stones to Beyoncé. In the Eurovision Song Contest was held there (and I was there!). Also in , the Eurovision Song Contest took place here.
Fun fact: Globen represents the sun in the solar system that you find, at a scale of million in Sweden.

Building this globe took years. When the building opened on February 19, , it was called Stockholm Globe Arena. On February 2, the name changed to Ericsson Globe and in May it was renamed Avicii Arena, in tribute to the Swedish DJ and to bring mental health under the attention.

Avicii Arena, originally known as Stockholm Globe Arena and previously as Ericsson Globe,[2] but commonly referred to in Swedish simply as Globen (pronounced[ˈɡlǔːbɛn]ⓘ; lit.'the Globe'),[3] is an indoor arena located in Stockholm Globe City, Johanneshov district of Stockholm, Sweden.
The arena represents the Sun in the Sweden Solar struktur, the world's largest scale model of the Solar System.[4][5]

[edit]Avicii Arena was the largest spherical building on Earth until September 29, and took two and a half years to build.[6] It has a diameter of metres (ft) and an inner height of 85 metres (ft). Since February , the Globe has a spectacular attraction on its outside, the SkyView. The SkyView is a kind of glass elevator with which you can drive on the outer skin of the Globe to its very top.
Since the SkyView was installed, the Stockholmers joke that the Globe looks like a butt now when viewed from a longer distance.
In dizzying heights On top of the Globe
The SkyView consists of two glass gondolas, each of which offers space for 16 persons (maximum load 1, kg). The gondolas are mounted to two rails on the facade of the Globe. The journey leads all the way up to the apex of the Globe, which corresponds to an altitude of meters above the sea.
